2020 Len Congress LEN Events News Press Releases

As already communicated within the letter dated 20.3.2020, the originally planned date of Sunday, 10 May 2020 for the Budapest (HUN) 2020 LEN Congress was cancelled due to the coronavirus crisis.

With this letter, in line with LEN Constitutional Rule C 9, it is our duty to officially inform you that the LEN Bureau has decided to reschedule the 2020 LEN Congress for Sunday, 8 November 2020, still in Budapest (HUN).

Furthermore, and in compliance with LEN Constitutional Rule C 9 and C 10, please note that the 2020 LEN Congress shall be an Elective Congress when the new LEN Bureau for the term 2020-2024 and the candidates as Continental members to the FINA Bureau for the term 2021-2025 will be elected.

Please also note that all nominations for LEN Bureau positions and candidates as Continental members to the FINA Bureau must be received by the LEN General Secretary at least ninety (90) days before the date of the Congress where the elections are to be held. This means that all nominations must be received no later than Monday, 10 August 2020.

Regarding nominations, we will respect all the valid ones already received unless they are formally withdrawn by the Federation concerned, and we remain open to further nominations and/or changes to the ones already received in the normal time scale foreseen by the Constitution. In this specific case, by Monday, 10 August 2020.

Given the exceptional pandemic situation, we draw your attention to the fact that, in case physical attendance to the Congress in Budapest (HUN) on Sunday, 8 November 2020 is not possible due to the coronavirus crisis throughout Europe (notably because of travel limitations and/or prohibition of holding large events), the LEN Bureau reserves the right to:

• either maintain the date of 8 November 2020 and hold a virtual Elective Congress as per Art. 6b of the COVID Ordinance issued by the Swiss Federal Council on March 13, 2020 (version valid on April 30, 2020);

• or postpone the Elective Congress to a later date, possibly also in 2021.

We also draw your attention to the fact that, as per LEN Constitutional Rule 10.2.1, the current members of the Bureau will remain in office until the end of the Congress electing the next Bureau.

Furthermore, as per LEN Constitutional Rule C 9, the Congress in Budapest (HUN) will also consider and vote the Constitutional Rules proposals and/or amendments thereto.

Further detailed information on the Congress logistics, accommodation and programme will be shared with you separately, at a later stage
