President Paolo Barelli to all the Federations
Dear Federation Presidents, Dear LEN Family Members, Dear Friends,
While we cannot ignore this extraordinary period of our lives, we must remain positive and reassured by the fact that competitions are being held across Europe and across sports, including our aquatic sports.
Within this context I want to reassure you by confirming that, unless of significant changes in the pandemic in Europe in the coming months, the Budapest European Aquatics Championships will be staged as planned this coming May 2021, going forward on its original dates and with the already announced schedules in each discipline.
LEN is working hard with the Hungarian organizers to ensure any needed sanitary measure will be put in place, respected and fully enforced to guarantee the smooth running of the Championships and the safety of all athletes, coaches, officials and staff. This is indeed LEN’s priority.
Soon you will receive the updated Information Bulletin from the Hungarian Swimming Association providing you detailed information on logistics and accommodation so that you can start the booking process.
We all know from previous championships that Budapest is a special place capable of creating an extraordinary atmosphere for the aquatics competitions. I am sure that also in this peculiar 2021 Budapest will stage an exceptional event.
The Budapest European Aquatics Championships will be the first international European event in swimming, diving, artistic swimming and open water swimming since 2019. And, it will be the first important testing ground before the Tokyo Olympics
