Naples bowing out

Both Naples based clubs bowed out in the quarterfinals of the Euro Cup, though they were regular players in the previous seasons even in the last stages. The semifinals will feature teams representing four nations.

Canottieri Napoli was downed by Oradea with double wins, while Posillipo couldn’t recover from the three-goal defeat suffered at home in the first leg and even though they could beat Jadran in the rematch, the aggregate score favoured the Montenegrins.

Italy’s pride was saved by Verona which ousted BVSC-Zuglo (HUN) by winning away and home. The triumphant march of the sides coming from the Champions League qualifications was halted by Ferencvaros (HUN) which beat Primorje (CRO) by four goals in both their encounters.
