Age-group European Championships in all disciplines

Europe’s best juniors in action

The day followed by the shortest night kicks off a long series of age-group meets: the junior European Championships in the various disciplines will take place in different cities around the continent in the coming weeks. The swimming showcase will be somewhat special as LEN celebrates the 50th anniversary of this event.

The synchronised swimmers begin their quest for the medals in Belgrade today. The Serbian capital is a traditional host of LEN Events, however, after countless editions of outstanding water polo showcases and swimming competitions, this time the best age-group synchro swimmers can attract the local sport enthusiasts.

The following week will belong to the swimmers and divers. One of the world’s oldest multinational age-group swimming meets, the European Junior Swimming Championships celebrate its 50th anniversary. The first edition was held in Linkoping (SWE) in 1967 – at the beginning it was a biannual event but after 1982 it’s staged every year. This summer the magnificent complex in Netanya (ISR) welcomes back the LEN Family after a memorable short-course Europeans held in 2015, now the best junior swimmers will take their marks at the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.

The divers head to North as Norway re-joins the circle of LEN Events’ hosts by staging this event in Bergen. Later in the season, in August, Marseille (FRA) organises the junior open water swimmers’ meet. Then, as usual, the water polo tournaments closes the junior series, the women’s Europeans will take place in Novi Sad (SRB) while the young men will play in Malta in September.
