2023 European Aquatics (LEN) calendar revealed

With a new, reshaped and transparent bidding process, many age-group meets have found their respective hosts for 2023. The next generation of European Aquatics will visit some exciting new places, and there are a couple of cities among the choses ones where top aquatic action is an annual feature.

These will be added to the already allocated senior events that have been previously announced: Short-course Swimming Europeans, Water Polo Europeans and Champions League Final Eight. The diving event at the European Games will be held in Rzeszow, Poland from 22 June to 28 June with the artistic swimming to be held in Oswiecim, Poland from 21-25 June.

LEN’s brand new age-group event, the U23 European Swimming Championships, will have its premiere in Dublin in the second week of August. Ireland’s capital welcomes back top European swimming action after exactly 20 years, back in 2003 the highly successful short-course Europeans were staged there.

The 49th edition of the European Junior Swimming Championships – the aquatic age-group meet with the longest tradition in the world – is heading to Belgrade in the first week of July for the third time after 2008 and 2011.

After welcoming the best junior open water swimmers last June, this time Portugal will stage the European Junior Artistic Swimming Championships in August – while the Junior open water event visits a well-known site, Piombino (ITA), a regular host of a leg in the LEN Open Water Cup, from 15 to 17 September.

2023 will celebrate U15 and U17 team events in water polo. The youngest girls will compete in Zagreb (CRO) from 24 June to 2 July, while the boys are going to Podgorica (MNE) on 8 to 16 July, the same venue used for the U19 championships earlier this year.

A new venue debuts on the European stage with Manisa (TUR) doing a double in U17 events . The city first welcomes the women’s tournament from 30 July to 5 August, while the men’s teams will hit the competition pool from 8 to 15 August.
