‘Funchal will welcome you warmly’ – LEN President Antonio Silva

LEN is delighted to reveal initial details about the 2023 European Junior Artistic Swimming Championships which will run from 2-6 August in Funchal, Madeira (Portugal).

The event will offer athletes the opportunity to ” participate in one of the world’s best and most beautiful venues,” during five days of competition in the Penteada Olympic Swimming Pools Complex.

That is the view of LEN and Portugese Swimming Federation President Antonio Silva who is overseeing the preparations for the latest edition of the pathway competition.

“We are happy and very proud to organise this championships,” continued President Silva.

“The Organizing Committee will do their best and we are sure that the Funchal will welcome you warmly, revealing some of its natural beauty and magic during the week you are spending here.”

Last year’s edition, in Alicante, Spain, saw history made as male athletes competed in solo competitions at a Europeans for the first time.

In 2023 they will again join the best rising star female talent from across the continent with those lining up in their respective national ‘Team Technical’ line-ups eligible to contest the first medal on offer in Madeira on 2nd August, shortly after the opening ceremony.

Male swimmers born 2003-2008 as well as female swimmers born 2004-2008 will be eligible to compete in the competition.

The deadline for entry is June 12, while music must be submitted July 17.
