Season’s greetings to the LEN European Aquatics Family

Season’s greetings to the LEN European Aquatics Family – here’s to an exciting New Year in 2023!

With the holiday season fast approaching, it’s time to look back on a hectic 2022 and to reflect on the exciting challenges ahead for European aquatics.

LEN President Antonio Silva, back in Europe after attending the FINA World Short Course championships in Melbourne, said:

“2022 has been a significant year with great changes since the election of the new LEN Bureau in February. Since then, the LEN Bureau, working closely with our Member Federations and committees and commission, has worked extremely hard to transform the political structures at LEN, to ensure that we become a model of ethical and good governance in service to our member federations and other stakeholders, always in alignment with World Aquatics.

“We also made sure that the LEN events, in all disciplines, were organised to the highest standards.

“Finally, I am delighted that we have now signed up a senior team of energetic and experienced sport executives. This new dynamic LEN Office will work tirelessly to ensure 2023 is a year to remember.”

New LEN Executive Director Patrice Coste with General Secretary Noam Zwi, Treasurer Andida Bouma and LEN Office staff following the first full staff meeting at LEN HQ in Nyon.

LEN’s new Executive Director Patrice Coste, formerly of UEFA, started work on 1 December and has lost no time in getting the senior team together at LEN’s HQ in Nyon, Switzerland with work already underway on plans, budgets and processes to guide the organisation to the next level.

“It has been a pleasure to get to know the new team,” said Patrice, “and I am fully confident that with the strategic guidance of the LEN Bureau, we are ready to execute and achieve our goals.

“We now have new Sport Directors in place for all the disciplines, and sport industry experts heading up teams in marketing, sponsorship and communications. It is an exciting time to be involved in the sport of aquatics and we will be working hard to ensure that LEN, and the sport of aquatics, fulfils its tremendous potential.”

The LEN Offices will be closed between Wednesday December 21 and Tuesday January 3.

“I would like to send my best wishes for the holiday period,” said President Silva, “ Let us all enjoy a good rest and quality time with our families and loved ones. I look forward to catching up again in 2023!”
